I was listening to Michael Stelzner’s podcast today featuring bestselling author Seth Godin talk about the hardest thing for people who create is the fear that what they do “might work or it might not.” That fear, really the fear of failure, keeps people from creating anything at all for the world to enjoy.
Have you ever had a cool creative idea pop into your head before? Of course you have. Maybe the idea was so cool you told a couple friends about it. They encouraged you to move forward with it, but you were too scared to see it through. Why? Cause it might fail! And that’s scary. Fear of failure can be paralyzing.
I want to encourage you to push through the fear; take risk to create and put new ideas into the world. It’s why you’re here. To live your purpose. Each one of us is blessed with unique gifts that we are supposed to share with the world. For me, my purpose is teaching people how to be mindful, stress management, and how to incorporate positive thinking into their lives. So I create and share my message through: writing, speaking, counseling, and art.
What about you? What are you naturally good at? Maybe you’re talented at organizing. You can share this skill with the world by teaching people the best method to keep their closet free of clutter, or possibly designing a hanger that’s more space efficient. Maybe you could write a monthly newsletter on easy organizing ideas.
You have nothing to lose by creating and letting the world see your work. By expressing who you are your true self blossoms and your mood will lighten.
And what if you fail? Well Seth Godin’s advice is, “It’s all gonna be okay.” And I agree.
