Animals Are Love

I’ve never written before about the two loves of my life so it’s time I did–

My dogs, Roxy and Maya are more loyal and loving to me then any human being I’ve ever encountered. And I have lots of wonderful, loving people in my life!

Animals are the best. If you don’t have a dog or a cat consider adopting one. They will teach you so much about unconditional love.

Our pets exemplify so much of what humans strive for. They are always in the moment. They aren’t worrying about the future or fretting the past. They’re just constant love. Besides feeding and taking them for a walk (which is also good for me)  all they want is to love me. There’s no bad moods, agendas, or manipulation– just straight up love. When I walk outside to get my mail and come back in, (two minutes later) my dogs are wagging their tails and jumping on me because they missed me!

It’s been a long, cold winter. For me it’s been a lot of lounging on the couch and spending extra time in my bed. I’ve definitely been hibernating more than usual. However, my dogs never complained. They just curled up with me happy as can be.

There’s a lot of health benefits for owning a pet. Pets lower anxiety and stress. For example, did you know petting an animal calms you down and lowers your blood pressure? According to WebMD there are a growing number of studies that say children who live with furry animals have less risk of allergies and asthma.

The point of my blog today is in tribute to all those wonderful pets out there. If you have one spend some quality time with it and let them love you. And if you don’t have one– reconsider you decision. Our furry friends are truly God’s gift to humans.
